Just release the bracket. Don't explain every nuance of it. Just say "Here's this year's playoff field". Put an explanation up on the web for the junkies that want to get into the nuts and bolts of the decisions.
I want fair. I could care less about steady, reliable and predictable. I understand that the number will change every year because every year the college football landscape is different. I'd be OK with that. The criteria for qualifying would be where the stability lies. Those aren't different rules. Only the number of teams that qualify would be different each year, but you'd know exactly what you have to do to qualify before the season starts. All it would require is a change of thinking for the first few years to get it. After those first few years, it would become every bit as normal to the fans as the current BCS is now.
