what's possible at Boise State to what's possible at a big time school. What they have done is ENORMOUS overachieving to get to where they are. Why are they struggling to bring in top talent? They play in the middle of nowhere on a blue field, have zero established school tradition and credibility in the world of college football, are never on TV, etc, and you're dogging them for not bringing in 5-star talent? They're in IDAHO for Jiminy Cricket's sake. When has any team from Idaho EVER been on the college football radar?

You don't seem get what it takes to build a program from nothing. Bobby Bowden's starting point for our program was coming from a bleak place in the years prior, but even that was light years better of a potential situation than what's available at Boise State. You're viewing things from the rarified air of what Florida State was in the dynasty era, not from a realistic point of view of where Boise State was as a program prior to these years that they've been coming on. The staff there have been nothing short of miracle workers IMO, and I put Petersen at the top of the list of those responsible.

They've dominated teams at their level. They haven't had enough at bats yet against BCS teams to really hold a 2-6 record against them IMO. You have to build up to that from where they are coming from. But I see no reason why, if given the talent pool any BCS level program has to work with, Petersen could not similarly dominate teams at the same level as what he has to work with.

They may lay a turd on the field in their bowl game, but having Boise State in that game to be talked about is an unreal accomplishment.
