even if the NFL makes YOU yawn, that clearly doesn't apply to multitudes of NFL fans. The NFL regular season seems quite successful... in spite of many games meaning "nothing." And, the playoffs go far beyond mere success.

I think your concern that CFB regular season games would lose meaning, if playoffs existed, is significantly more imagined than real. JMHO. Playoff opponents act like rematches are a given in a playoff, with the net effect being that full effort and emotion won't exist in the regular season matchup. Sure, some rematches will happen, but it's more likely they won't. If you want to beat your rival, you better plan on doing it the first time around.

Yes, there are some voices of dissent opposing playoffs. Once a playoff system is established, however, you will have a difficult time finding anyone wanting to return to the "old way."

The above said, your opposition to automatic playoff berths for conference champions does have some validity. Also, I was very impressed with Chris Petersen on TV last night. Finally, Kenny, I will be happy to write a letter of recommendation for you for a staff position with the FSU football team. You clearly know more than a lot of our coaches. Yes, I'm serious. However, I'm also serious that my letter probably won't carry much weight. :-)
