are dropped to Class 2 status in this. That means they will get the toughest route to the championship. They are going to have to beat some teams before getting the ring.
I can see with questioning Wisconsin's presence that an additional requirement that any one loss Class Two teams must have played a upper-half caliber schedule would be a good idea. Undefeateds that play cupcakes get their penalty by being dropped from Class One to Class Two. But one loss Class Two qualifiers that play cupcakes don't get a strength of schedule penalty. So that's a good thing to add to make sure they get penalized as well. I'll add that to the draft of the system.
With that added, Wisconsin would be the only one loss team to be dropped from this year's field as the others have all played a worthy schedule.
Revamping this year's bracket to include this requirement and to reflect the CURRENT rankings where Florida and Michigan have flip-flopped, that would produce the following bracket:
Round One:
(5) Boise State at (2) Florida
(4) Louisville at (3) Michigan
Round Two:
Round one winners at home of higher seed.
Round Three:
Round Two winner vs. (1) Ohio State
So with this field, I have it set up as like a final four squaring off to get the right to face Ohio State. I did it that way in this type of five team field because that provides a strong penalty for falling to Class Two status. Two games against high caliber opposition to get to the title game against the only Class One team that earned a bye to the title game.
