Five Great Plays In FSU vs Florida History

2003 Rix to Sam
With just a minute remaining and the Noles at least a FG to tie, Chris Rix sprints to his right and finds P.K. Sam behind the Gator defense for an improbable 52 yard score to give the Noles a 4 point lead and the victory.

1993 Ward to Dunn
Florida State took a commanding 27-7 lead in Gainesville into the 4th quarter. Two Gator touchdowns had flipped the momentum and the Noles faced a 3rd and 10 leading just 27-21 with 6 minutes to go. Charlie Ward was pressured, but escaped to his left and found freshman Warrick Dunn who streaked down the sideline for a 79 yard game clinching touchdown.

1990 Weldon to Dawsey
On just the 2nd play from scrimmage for the Noles, the offense went against a formation tendency that they’d shown all year. Casey Weldon sprinted out right and Lawrence Dawsey got behind the Gator defense for a 76 yard touchdown. So much for the SEC’s #1 defense.

1998 Warrick to Dugans
While the FSU defense was dominating the game, the FSU offense, without starting quarterback Chris Weinke, was struggling to put points on the board. Early in the 4th quarter, the Noles were clinging to just a 13-12 lead. A Florida State touchdown by Travis Minor had just been called back to a penalty. The Noles ran the same look, but this time gave it to Peter Warrick on the reverse, but he stopped and threw long to Ron Duggans for the 46 yard score and a 20-12 lead.

1994 Rock Preston TD Run
Florida State had battled back from a 31-3 deficit in the 4th quarter. With just under 2 minutes to go, Rock Preston went 4,3,2,1, touchdown and set off one of the most raucous celebrations in Doak Campbell History.
