Some interesting things in this article. First, he can play immediately and will have a few years of eligibility, and that will immediately make USF a threat in the Big East, as they have a really horrible QB staff, but a solid team throughout. Second, read the quote....

Quote
Steven Bench
Bench said he's looking forward to playing Florida State in 2015, as he went to Florida State games for six consecutive years. Both of his parents went to Florida State and were disappointed he didn't get a scholarship offer.

This is mainly a cost saving measure as I was able to add a 3rd seat for the same price as I was paying for 2 seats. The new selection process was awesome to be able to view exactly the seats you were selecting. I was able to chose something with no rows in front of me and on the aisle near the concourse for quick bathroom and concession trips. Here's the view and my seats:

Poll: Which was the greater victory?

#1 - '80 Pittsburgh

What happened?
Coming off of a win at #3 Nebraska the previous week, #11 Florida State hosted another Top 5 team the very next Saturday as #4 Pittsburgh headed to Tallahassee. The Florida State Seminole defense and special teams would lead the way on this night. The Nole defense would force 7 Pittsburgh turnovers including 3 interceptions of future Hall of Famer Dan Marino. Monk Bonasorte, Keith Jones, and Bobby Butler would each nab an interception and the Seminoles would recover 4 Panther fumbles, including two recoveries by Ron Hester. The punting of Rohn Stark would help keep the field flipped in favor of the Noles as the future NFLer booted 7 punts for an average of 48.1 yards. After Pitt grabbed an early lead with a Marino TD pass, Florida State would score 23 straight in the 1st half including two Rick Stockstill TD passes and 3 Bill Capece field goals. The first half scoring was topped off by a 50 yarder by Capece with just seconds remaining. Pitt wouldn't go do without a fight in the 3rd quarter as Marino took the Panthers down the field on their opening possession and found the endzone on a 36 yard scoring strike with a 2-point conversion to cut the lead to one score. Capece would answer back with 2 more FGs in the middle of the 3rd setting the school record with 5 FGs. With 16 seconds to go in the 3rd, Pitt would find the endzone again to cut the lead to 7 at 29-22. In the 4th quarter Stockstill would find Kurt Unglaub for 13 yard TD and the Nole defense would stiffen up to hang on for the 36-22 upset. Despite not even putting up 300 yards offensively, the Noles would score 36 points on the highly ranked Panthers. Sam Platt, however, had a nice game for the Noles rushing for 123 yards on 26 carries to account for almost half of the Noles offense.

Why is it significant?
The Noles would upset a Top 5 team for the 2nd week in a row, this time at home. Pitt was a team that had 12 players drafted in the NFL the following year. The roster included College Football Hall of Famers Hugh Green and Mark May, as well as, future NFL Hall of Famers Dan Marino, Russ Grimm, and Ricky Jackson.

vs

#8 - '05 Miami

What happened?
The Miami Hurricanes, ranked #9 preseason, came into Doak Campbell to take on the preseason #14 Seminoles for a Labor Day primetime matchup. Florida State got started with a short touchdown run by James Coleman after a short 25 yard drive midway through the first quarter. The drive was set up by a interception and return by Kyler Hall. A few minutes later, Gary Cismesia hit a 37 yard field goal and it was up to the Florida State defense after that. An inept FSU offense managed only 170 yards total on the day and Drew Weatherford, making his first career start, finished 7-24 for 67 yards. The Florida State defense, however, kept the Noles in the game. After allowing a 34 yard touchdown pass in midway through the 2nd quarter, the Noles would put the clamps down. They sacked Kyle Wright, also making his first career start, 9 times and forced 3 turnovers on the day. In the 3rd quarter, the Noles caught some breaks as Miami kicker Jon Peattie missed field goals from 47 and 39 yards. While the Noles offense struggled, the team clinged to a 10-7 lead late into the 4th quarter. After Miami mounted their most successful drive since the first half, the Noles forced a field goal from 28 yards out to tie the game with 2:30 left in the game. However, a bad snap and a missed hold made sure that the kick never was attempted and FSU was able to hold on for an ugly, but very satisfying 10-7 victory in the season opener.

Why is it significant?
Florida State had lost 6 straight games to the Hurricanes and hadn't beaten Miami in Tallahassee since the 1999 victory. In addition, after years of close loses and failed field goals, it was finally the Canes who saw a late game chance blow up in their face. Though it was a terrible offensive performance, there was extra delight in this victory to see the "Miami Muff".

Poll: Which was the greater victory?

#6 - '64 Florida

What happened?
The 14th ranked Florida Gators came to Tallahassee for the first time in history to take on the 12th ranked Seminoles of Florida State. Fred Biletnikoff and Les Murdock led the way for the Noles. After a scoreless 1st quarter Steve Tensi, quarterback for the Noles, found Biletnikoff for a 55 yard score that would stand at the half for a 7-0 lead. Murdock would then be the star of the 2nd half, booting 3 field goals, including the clincher with 6:42 left in the game. The Gators only found the endzone once with 9:03 to go in the game to make it interesting at 13-7 before Murdock's clincher that put the Noles up 2 scores. Bill McDowell and Winfred Bailey would each intercept Florida quarterback Steve Spurrier and the Noles defense would also pick up 4 Gator fumbles. Wayne Giardino and Phil Spooner would combine for 143 yards on the ground for the Seminoles and the FSU defense held the Gators to 244 total yards, including just 57 on the ground.

Why is it significant?
It was the very first victory over Florida in the series in the very first game between the two school played in Tallahassee.

vs

#11 - '61 Georgia

What happened?
The Georgia Bulldogs from the mighty SEC came into Tallahassee to take on the Florida State Seminoles. This would be an ugly defensive battle that saw both teams combine for only 350 yards. Florida State caught an early brake after forcing a punt by the Dawgs, the ensuing kick traveled 18 yards and set up the Noles with excellent field position at the 48 yard line. FSU was able to get the ball down to the 8 yard line in 9 plays to set up the short 25 yard field goal by Doug Messer. It would be the only score of the game. Georgia would see two scoring opportunities fall short in the 2nd quarter with misses from 50 yards and 47 yards to keep them off the board. The teams came by what yards they could get in opposite fashions with the Noles rushing for 151 and passing for 17 while the Bulldogs rushed for only 39 and threw for 143. Keith Kinderman led the way for Florida State rushing for 101 yards on 22 carries.

Why is it significant?
It was only the 2nd victory over an SEC in nearly 20 tries and the first in Tallahassee.

This is not an original idea of mine, but I thought it would be fun to discuss here. Those familiar with soccer will certainly be familiar with this. Promotion and Relegation is simply this: process where teams are transferred between two divisions based on their performance for the completed season. The best-ranked teams in the lower division are promoted to the division above, and the worst-ranked teams in the higher division are relegated to the division below.

It's would be very difficult in college conferences because of multiple sports, scheduling, etc, but here's how it might work using 2012 standings with future conference alignments...

ACC < AAC

ACC
Florida State 12-2
Clemson 11-2
Louisville 11-2
UNC 8-4
Syracuse 8-5
Miami 7-5
NC State 7-6
Virginia Tech 7-6
Georgia Tech 7-7
Pittsburgh 6-7
Wake Forest 5-7
Duke 6-7
Virginia 4-8
Boston College - 2-10

AAC
Cincinnati 10-3
UCONN 5-7
Houston 5-7
Memphis 4-8
SMU 7-6
South Florida 3-9
Temple 4-7
UCF 10-4

So, for the 2014 year, Boston College would drop down to the AAC and Cincinnati would be a member of the ACC in football. You could take it a step further with a feeder conference from FCS and then relegate South Florida to FCS and call up the winner of that conference to the AAC.

Big 12 < C-USA

Big 12
Baylor 8-5
Iowa State 6-7
Kansas 1-11
K State 11-2
Oklahoma 10-3
Ok State 8-5
Texas 9-4
Texas Tech 8-5
TCU 7-6
West Virginia 7-6

C-USA
East Carolina 8-5
Florida Atlantic 3-9
FIU 3-9
Marshall 5-7
Midd Tennessee 8-4
Southern Miss 0-12
UAB 3-9
LA Tech 9-3
North Texas 4-8
Rice 7-6
Tulane 2-10
Tulsa 11-3
UTEP 3-9
UTSA 8-4

So, Kansas would get relegated to C-USA while Tulsa would be promoted to the Big12.

Big 10 < MAC

Big Ten
Iowa 4-8
Michigan 8-5
Mich State 7-6
Minnesota 6-7
Nebraska 10-4
Northwestern 10-3
Illinois 2-10
Indiana 4-8
Ohio State 12-0
Penn State 8-4
Purdue 6-7
Wisconsin 8-6
Rutgers 9-4
Maryland 4-8

MAC
Akron 1-11
Bowling Green 8-5
Buffalo 4-8
Kent State 11-3
UMass 1-11
Miami 4-8
Ohio 9-4
Ball State 9-4
Central Mich 7-6
Eastern Mich 2-10
No Illinois 12-2
Toledo 9-4
Western Mich 4-8

Illinois would be relegated to the MAC while Northern Illinois gets the call up to the Big 10.

Pac 12 < Mountain West

PAC 12
Cal 3-9
Oregon 12-1
Oregon State 9-4
Stanford 12-2
Wash 7-6
Wash St 3-9
Arizona 8-5
Arizona St 8-5
Colorado 1-11
UCLA 9-5
USC 7-6
Utah 5-7

Mountain West
Air Force 6-7
Boise St 11-2
Colorado St 4-8
New Mexico 4-9
Utah St 11-2
Wyoming 4-8
Fresno St 9-4
Hawai'i 3-9
Nevada 7-6
San Diego St 9-4
San Jose St 11-2
UNLV 2-11

Colorado would be relegated to the Mountain West with Boise State now being a member of the Pac 12.

SEC < Sun Belt

SEC
Florida 11-2
Georgia 12-2
Kentucky 2-10
Missouri 5-7
South Carolina 11-2
Tennessee 5-7
Vanderbilt 9-4
Alabama 13-1
Arkansas 4-8
Auburn 3-9
LSU 10-3
Miss St 8-5
Ole Miss 7-6
Texas AM 11-2

Sun Belt
Ark State 10-3
Georgia St 1-10
La-Lafayette 9-4
La-Monroe 8-5
South Alabama 2-11
Troy 5-7
Texas St 4-8
WKU 7-6

Kentucky would be relegated to the Sun Belt with Arkansas St getting the call up to the SEC.

If you thought you were tired of the SEC folks screaming at you how wonderful they are before....it's gonna get even worse now, I suspect.

The firing of hundreds by ESPN raises another issue for me though. I've thought all the TV money was a PONZI scheme to begin with. ESPN makes it appear they have a money machine in the basement but, at some point, it runs out. Doesn't it?

Poll: Which was the greater victory?

#6 - '00 Florida

What happened?
Fourth ranked Florida traveled to Tallahassee to take on 3rd ranked Florida State in another big showdown between these bitter rivals. The Noles wasted no time getting on the board. After forcing a Florida punt, Chris Weinke took the opening possession and went 6-8 for 70 yards finding Atrews Bell for a 17 yard score. Florida would answer back on their next possession as Bachelor Jesse Palmer threw a 5 yard TD pass. Weinke would strike back just 56 seconds later finding Snoop Minnis for the 34 yard TD with 3:47 left in the first quarter. The 2nd quarter would see both defenses stiffen up and the Noles took a 14-7 lead into half. William McCray would finally get the scoring going again midway through the 3rd quarter as he plunged in from 1 yard out. Minnis would again find the endzone at the end of a Weinke pass going 51 yards for the score that made it 27-7 heading into the 4th quarter an effectively ending the game. Brett Cimorelli would tack on a 33 yard field goal to finish the scoring with 10:42 left in the game. The 30-7 victory was the largest since the '88 stomping of the Gators in Tallahassee. Weinke, despite suffering flu like symptoms and spending the prior evening in the hospital, threw for 353 yards on 23 of 44 passing. Snoop Minnis had a field day in the Florida secondary catching 8 passes for 187 yards.

Why was it significant?
It was a 30-7 beatdown of the 4th ranked team in the nation that just happened to also be our hated rival. It would cement the Heisman trophy for Chris Weinke and put the Noles in their 3rd consecutive BCS National Championship game.

Here's the whole game...

vs

#11 - '79 South Carolina

What happened?
The South Carolina Gamecocks, ranked 19th in the country, came into Tallahassee to take on the undefeated and 7th ranked Florida State Seminoles. Dave Cappelen would kick 3 1st half FGs and Mark Lyles would get the scoring going for the Noles with a 1 yard run in the first quarter as the Noles took a 16-7 lead into half. South Carolina's lone score came on an 80 yard run by 1980 Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers. Rogers would have a successful day with 186 yards on 21 carries, but that would account for 71% of the South Carolina yards and it would be the only time he found the endzone. FSU would have an impressive day out of the backfield for Lyles though, too, as he rushed for 132 yards on 25 carries. Jimmy Jordan would find Sam Childers for a 7 yard touchdown in the 4th quarter and Cappelen would kick his 4th FG of the day with 7:01 remaining to give the Noles a final score victory of 27-7 over the Gamecocks. Wally Woddham led the Noles in passing on the day with 145 yards on 15 of 29 passing. The Homecoming game was played in front of a then record crowd of 49,490.

Why was it significant?
This was the last real test in remaining unbeaten for the '79 Seminoles as the squared off with a Top 20 team with a legitimate super star in the backfield. The win led to a Top 5 ranking, the first in Florida State history, the following two weeks and set up a matchup with Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.

Don't think that NE will be signing Timmy anytime soon.
Some great comments:

Things you will never hear Tebow say:

"you know, I'm a 3rd string QB and I need to focus on my game and my team, so I won't be giving anymore interviews of press conferences"

"look at my last 5 games"

[1-4. 42% completion percentage. 7 total TDs. 12 turnovers]
things owners say:
