he would frequently go over the deep end. It was Brad Sham who once said on air after one of Skip's bizarre editorials made the paper that day, "if it is a slow sports news day you can count on Skip to write something out there in outer space." Phil could not get anything to drop save for two putts. And much of that was due to him being in the rough much of the time. He just could not get the ball close enough to the hole. When he did (16) he still didn't make the putt.by bill from tampa - The Porch

On top of being hard to begin with, the rough is a killer. With the fairways not much more than 20 yards wide on a lot of them (and OB close by on a couple of them) you are likely to be in a number of them. The throw in those two looooong par threes just for fun. I dread to think the score I would get on the course the way it is currently set up..by bill from tampa - The Porch

And to do that you have to hit the fairway. Tat is why a guy like Michelson is leading. Typically wild off the tee he has hit 75% of the fairways leading to him hitting 75% of the greens. Then there is Horschel (sp?) that hit all 18 GIR (and somehow 3 putted a 123 yd par three??).
