because of differing scholarship limits. Also it would make it difficult to maintain rivalries as chemo pointed out. I think we should play GT every year, not just when we happen to be in the same conference.by 91Nole - The Porch
a lot of their eyes. People just won't stand for being awakened at all hours of the night and many will disable the alerts on their phones. I'm struggling through my work day today for having my night's sleep interrupted. Again I understand it's an abducted child. But I still think it would be more effective to try to target phones on people who are up and awake rather than everyone.by 91Nole - The Bucket
have the phone decide whether to go off with it or not. Use phone motion. If the phone is moving, for example, then you can assume the person is up and about, either walking around with the phone or driving in a car, whatever. Then have the phone deliver the Amber Alert immediately. If the phone is not moving, then hold the alert for the next time the phone is moved. I get to sleep through tby 91Nole - The Bucket
I fall on the side of bad idea, at least the way they're currently administered. I was awakened last night at 1:30 AM by a loud harsh grating sound and it took me several seconds to come fully awake enough to stop it. Then once I managed that I lay awake with an adrenaline rush ... because let me tell you that sound demands action. I had gone through this before ... first time ever was back inby 91Nole - The Bucket
totally clueless as the front car at a left turn. I waited maybe 4 seconds or so and finally tooted the horn. Just as I toot the horn, the arrow turns yellow. But instead of looking up at the light the guy looks up into his rear view mirror to glare at me for daring to blow my horn at him. Then by the time he looks at the light, the arrow had turned red again! So he doubly thinks I'm a jerk,by 91Nole - The Bucket

Are you saying that the Big 12 is a better basketball conference than the ACC? Not only no but hell no. The ACC has fallen some in basketball since the 1990's but not *that* far. Kansas is really the only basketball "name" in that conference since Missouri left.by 91Nole - The Porch
But Barron came from Big 12 country, did not like it, and was not going to allow FSU to go that route short of him being killed. He as much as said that in his "damage control" email that came out shortly after our booster chairman said publicly that we should be open to outside overtures. So I'm pretty sure he quickly told the Big 12 we were not interested in looking their way. And, for the mby 91Nole - The Porch

One of the reasons FSU chose the ACC in the first place was because in 1991 the ACC paid out more money per school than any other conference. Yes the whole easier to compete argument is still there as well but it is documented that the ACC paid out the most $$ per school back then. I think the ACC stayed largely that way through Corrigan's oversight. It's under Swofford's watch that the ACC noby 91Nole - The Porch
Geno's problem Interesting article with many of the details already indicated in this thread. But one section stood out ... Two sources indicated that when Smith went on some visits to teams, rather than interact with coaches and front-office people, he would spend much of his time on his cell phone. Instead of being engaged with team officials, he would be texting friends or reading Twittby 91Nole - The Porch

Some might call me unpatriotic but I could not care less about politics. I *might* get out and vote in the presidential election every 4 years but that's it. I've lived in Georgia for 18 years now and I couldn't name our senators or congressmen. It's all a bunch of crap to me so you'll certainly not see me stirring any political debates. Anyway, on the surface I don't see anything political aby 91Nole - The Bucket
