Florida St ADVANTAGES Virginia Tech

Despite the question marks on the offensive line for Florida State, the talent in the FSU backfield combined with the new scheme from Taggart and the inexperienced undersized front seven for the Hokies give the Noles the edge here.

I like FSUs chances matching up against an inexperienced VT secondary with an experienced QB and talented receiving corps.

PUSH Virginia Tech Run Game vs FSU Defense

Virginia Tech doesn’t boast a stout running game, but Florida State has a lot of questions at linebacker.  The interior of the defensive line for FSU is stout, however, and I think this is a push as neither team is overly strong in this area.

Florida State’s secondary is one of the strengths of the team heading into the season and Brian Burns seems poised for a breakout season as dominant pass rusher. I like VT quarterback Josh Jackson and the Hokies have some talented young receivers, but I think FSU has the advantage here.

34 Prediction

The Noles have in advantage in nearly every area and they’re playing at home in front of what should be a raucous crowd ready to shower praises on Willie Taggart and the new look Noles.  If FSU can have some success early and get the tempo cranking than this could turn into an FSU romp.  I think more likely is some hiccups from a new offense and defense and a battle in the first half that sees FSU eventually wear down VT in the second half to pull away.
